AWANA Boat Races

Our AWANA club had our annual Boat Races a couple of weeks ago. I've mentioned before that we are car derby people - not boat people. Travis thought he had a great design down this year but alas, we shall reign victorious next year!
This red boat in the middle above is Jack's boat. It was super simple with hopes of great aerodynamics. The kids have to blow air into the sail to guide it down the gutter pipe. Jack won his first race which was great but then lost his last two.
This blue one is Beau's boat. It is similar in style and shape to Jack's.
Beau also won his first race but then lost his second two races. As you can see his boat had some balance issues :)
Here's Maizie and her cute purple boat. She's telling her class all about it.
Here she goes - racing that boat! I think she may have won a couple but the leaders don't really take score in her class! Whatev!

Maizie & Me Time at the Huntington Library

Geez, could I take longer between posting or what???!!!
Well, on April 1st, Maizie & I went to the Huntington Library which is a lot more than a library! It is in San Marino, CA which is like a 45 minute drive or so and it is beautiful! It has museums, libraries, and botanical gardens. And yes, Maizie did her own hair.
This was the entrance into the Children's Garden. She's going through a tunnel. She loved the fountains. There were a bunch and she surprisingly did not get all that wet!
There was a little kids' table hidden in this small cottage covered in vines. She pretended she was having a party in there and eating lunch. It was beautiful.
She was so fascinated by the art! She knew who this was right away - her fave GEORGE WASHINGTON!!! So she needed a picture with him!
Maizie is totally a ham and knows what would be a funny picture the minute she sees it. She said, "Mom, take a picture of me trying to pick up this trophy!" I wonder where she gets that from?? Can we say, TRAVIS!!
We had an awesome time together seeing beautiful flowers, art, and running around the gardens. When we got in the car she said, "This was a really fun day." And then she fell asleep. SUCCESS!!!
