Hot Dancing!
I wanted to try to download a video since I've never done it so this is kind of my test.
(and it's not like Beau & Maizie can't ever resist an opportunity to shake it for the camera)

Spooky Times at the Discovery Science Center
We recently became members at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana and it was such a good decision (way cheaper than paying every time we go)! They had a Spooky Fun Night for members only last night and we enjoyed it thoroughly!
CUPCAKES!!
Their new exhibit is Bug Invasion! Tons of big bugs looking gross!
Snacks are definitely a plus! I'm pretty sure this was the kids' favorite stop!
Beau pointing at the Preying Mantis. I don't know why he still points with that finger, he is 7 after all!
A stranger volunteered to take a picture of "the whole family" - I didn't have the heart to tell him there where two more around here somewhere. Oh well, we look cute!
Maizie driving a Zamboni in the hockey exhibit
This picture makes me seriously crack up! ;) Actually, Jack was pretty proud of himself for sounding out "excellent". So endearing...
Big, nasty rats!
The crew with their decorated pumpkins!
All 3 passed out immediately when we got on the highway to come home! Even though it was only 8:30. Cutie pies!!

Palos Verdes Hike
Dude! Why has it taken us this long to seek out some hiking trails?? We used to be hikaholics before we moved here!
Travis did some googling and found this awesome spot in Palos Verdes. The views were INCREDIBLE! It reminded me of how beautiful our area really is. The trail was really fun and easy!
Theo enjoyed pulling Travis's hair and trying to take his hat off during the hike!
Jack says, "I AM smiling, mom! There's just too much sunshine!"
Look at those adventurers
At this overlook spot there were a couple of horses hanging out with their cowboy (who was playing his harmonica for them by the way!) The horses were so friendly and let the kids pet them.
p.s. bottom right hand corner of this pic there's the double-finger-nose-pick (and Beau thinks this is awesome otherwise I wouldn't say anything)
Awww, I really did come along!
Along the trail there was a rope swing hidden in a little alcove. It was a great little diversion as we made our way back up a big hill!
Theo passed out after the hike. He really worked so hard.
This was a super fun time and we really need to take the time to do more hiking. I think we've rekindled our hiking passion so hopefully we'll discover many more trails!

Creepy Snake
I'd like to think I love animals however this is something that I will never get used to. This snake creeps me out! I sooo wish I was cooler and I was ok with this!
Beau with "Backfire" his Albino Cornsnake wrapped around his neck...ew |
and ewww again |
Beau actually DOES love all animals and luckily for him his dad shares that passion and convinced me this snake was a necessity for any boy training to be a man. Whatever.
Beau was begging me to take this picture of his "trick." Wow! That's sure amazing! |

New Computer for the Katester!
Last week Travis passed down his MacPro to me as it was time for him to get a bigger one for his work. So, YEY score for me!! I finally have my own computer (that no one can kick me off of) so there will be no excuse for me to be behind in blogging. I love reading everybody's blogs and seeing how they blog everyday (or week even) really inspires me to get it together and get it going! So hopefully now I can commit to at least a couple times a week! Here's to the future!!
